Halloween Goodies!

Halloween is mere days away!  Being the crafty mother of two that I am, I can’t let the holiday pass without creating some kind of goody to give to someone.  There are just too many kids in the neighborhood to hand make all the trick-or-treat give-aways so instead I made goody bags for all of the friends in my kids’ classes.  Between the two classes there are a total of 19 children, so quite a few things to make but not nearly as many as I’m sure there will be once they’re both in elementary school.  This year I made a coloring book using the images from the Trick or Treaters stamp set from The Angel Company.  The goody bags for my daughter’s class contained the coloring book, a small box of crayons and a rice krispies treats mini square.  For my son’s class they contained the coloring book, a small box of crayons, a pencil with eraser and a sheet of stickers.  I made round tags using my Cricut for each of the kids bags and I made 4×4 cards to attach to the teachers bags.  The cards for the teachers used the Trick or Treaters stamp set, the Martha Stewart spiderweb punch around the page corner and border punches, cardstock from The Angel Company, Close to My Heart and Hobby Lobby and the black ribbon is from Offray.   Okay, now for the pictures:

Time Passes Quickly

Okay, nearly 3 weeks have passed since my last post, has it really been that long?   In that time, our hot water heater went out-got it fixed, the entire city lost water-lasted for a few hours then came back but meant that the kids couldn’t go to school that day, found out that the closing on our old house would be delayed because of some issues with the buyer’s financing, then we went on  vacation to Disney World for a week!  So as you can see, its a boring life I lead.  We’re back from vacay, we’re finally closing on the house today (yay!) and we’re working on getting back into a routine.  I did actually make a card, but its gotten buried somewhere in this disaster area that I’m calling a craft room.  So I’m working on getting this room put together, with the help of Harper, my 17 month old daughter, who has decided that she doesn’t like the way I’ve organized my ribbon and much prefers for it to be all over the floor.  I’m really hoping to be able to post some pictures on various sites: here, my etsy site, my fan page for Lady Baby Bows on facebook, etc. sometime this weekend, especially since the hubs is off on Monday for Columbus Day, so check back with me early next week to see if I’ve been able to make any progress.  It will probably be more bows than paper crafts since I’m prepping for a craft fair, but at least we know the creative juices are still flowing.  Once again, fingers crossed!

All Moved In

Yay!  All of our stuff is at our new house and I’ve even got most of it unpacked!  My goal today was to get my craft room organized and fully put together.  I think I’ve almost accomplished that goal.  Which, by the way, is a really good thing.  I recently signed up to become an Angel with The Angel Company and my starter kit arrived today!  I’m hoping that I will get at least a small chance to play with all of my new stuff, and maybe even some of my old stuff tomorrow afternoon during nap time.  I’m so excited to get my creative juices flowing again.  I’ll be doing cards for a little while but before long, I’ll get some pictures printed so that I can get my scrapbooking groove on once again.  Maybe, I’ll even have something fun to post tomorrow!  Fingers crossed!

desperate to create

okay, the dry spell is over.  I was once, not too long ago, in a place where I felt like I could put away all of my paper crafting supplies and a lot of my other crafting supplies forever and not miss them.  I wasn’t sure I ever wanted to do traditional paper crafting and scrapbooking ever again.  That time has passed.  I think the fact that I have had to limit myself in what I can do due to trying to sell our house has greatly contributed to my sense of desperation.  I’m so tired of feeling like I can only get out one or two items at a time and I have to put them away the second I’m done with them.  Half of my stuff and all of my paper crafts are not even in the house at the moment, they’re in storage somewhere  to help keep our house from looking cluttered, to make it look more spacious.  I know the house has only been on the market for a month and I’m being completely impatient, but that’s just part of my personality.  I hate to wait for the things I want, and even more than that, I hate uncertainty.  If I could be told exactly when our house would sell, I would be doing a lot better because I could put a plan into action for that.  I would still hate the wait and I would still hate having all of my stuff in storage and feeling like I can’t do anything that I want to do, but at least I’d know when the end of my torture was coming and I could happily look forward to that day.  But instead I sit and wonder, uncertain.  Is someone going to come look at my house today?  Is someone going to call with an offer tomorrow?  Or are we going to go another week or two without hearing anything.  This is highly frustrating and difficult to deal with.  It seems to have just totally rewritten my life.  I know that its only temporary and that this too shall pass.  I also know that its not the worst thing that will ever happen to me.  But it is the worst thing happening to me now.  And overlooking the things that are happening now and seeing the things that will be is just so hard, especially when you have no clue when those things that will be will be.

Bows, Bows and More Bows

Wow!  This is already turning out to be a busy busy week!  But that’s okay.  If life wasn’t crazy, I’d get bored!  So, even with all the stuff on my schedule, I’ve still been able to design a few bows.  I started a new Etsy store: ladybabybows.etsy.com, and I put up a fan page for Lady Baby Bows on facebook.  Become a fan, maybe I’ll do a giveaway or something.  Who knows?  I think I’m definitely going to have to keep track of when I officially started Lady Baby Bows and do something spectacular on anniversaries.  And when I reach a certain number of fans on facebook, I will definitely do something fun.  Anyway, just wanted to check in with the blog-osphere.  Check out my etsy gallery now here on my blog, and if you decide to buy something, it won’t hurt my feelings at all 🙂  Have a great day.  I’ll check in again soon.

Long Time, No Post

Wow!  I didn’t realize that it had been quite so long since my last blog post.  Over a month!  I’m such a delinquint.  Okay, not really, I know.  Life has just taken over, like usual.  And, I kinda lost all of my inspiration for paper crafting.  I don’t know what happened, but for some reason, a few weeks ago, I just wanted to put everything away and not even see it for awhile.  I know better than to get rid of it all, I know I’ll be back sooner or later.  Maybe its because I’ve started a new crafting passion, hairbows!  I discovered that I could make Harper’s hairbows instead of buying them and now I’ve been obsessed with them.  I’ve also been making tutus and decorated flip flops.  If you’re interested in them, check out shellydaivs.artfire.com or angelcrafts.etsy.com.  There’s some really cute stuff that I’ve created for sale, even if I do say so myself, which of course I do.  Well, I guess that’s all for now.  Keep your eyes peeled, I’ll keep posting, hopefully more frequently, and you’ll get to see all of the fun crafts I’m into at the moment, and when I once again get bitten by the paper crafting bug, I’ll be sure to let you know!

Haunted Hanging

Todays post is so not me, but I saw this Macabre Monday challenge at Haunted Design House and it just seemed to be calling to me.  I’m really not into the creepy thing or the dark thing but the little wheels in my brain started turning (squeaking at first) and I just couldn’t stop thinking about it so here is what I came up with:

Its a Halloween wall hanging.  The supplies used are (all Close to my Heart unless otherwise noted): Cardstock in orange, clover meadow and hydrangea, Spellbound stamp set, Exclusive inks in black, hydrangea and gray wool, patterned paper (paper studio), jewel brad (american crafts), extra large eyelets (we R memory keepers), ribbon (unknown).

Have a great memory filled day!

Pile It On Challenge x2

Either my kids have been really good at entertaining themselves this weekend or I’ve been doing a really good job of hiding from them because I was able to do not one but two cards for several challenges this week.  The first card is for the Pile It On Challenge.  In addition to the Pile It On Challenge of Animal-Rific, it also incorporates the following challenges: Fun with Shapes and More-Faux Stitching, S2G-buttons, and Card Patterns-Sketch.

The supplies used for this card are: Cardstock (CTMH) Colonial White, Heavenly Blue, Ocean and Brown Bag, Ribbon (RibbonFX), Buttons (American Crafts) Glitter Buttons Baby Girl, Marker (Bic Mark-it) Woodsy Brown, Stamps (TAC) Bountiful Bears, Other-Prismacolor Pencils, Baby Oil, Punch (Fiskars)

I guess I was really inspired by this card because I decided to do another one. The second card doesn’t fit in with the Pile It On Challenge but it does fit the other three challenges.

The supplies for this card are: Cardstock (CTMH) Colonial White, Juniper, Brown Bag, Patterned Paper (CTMH) Unforgettable B&T, Ribbon (CTMH) Cocoa, Stamps (CTMH) Kanji Phrases, Marker (Bic Mark-it) Woodsy Brown, Jewel Brads (American Crafts), Rhinestones (unknown).

Until next time, have a great memory-filled day!
