The Princess and her Knight in Shining Armor

Yay!  I finally created something!  Not only that, I took photos of it too!  WooHoo, go me!  This year for Halloween my son, who is 4 years old, decided he wanted to be a knight, I thought how cute would it be if he dressed as a knight and we dressed up my daughter, who is 18 months old, as a princess!  We went costume shopping and the only knight costume we could find in his size reminded me of the Orcs in Lord of the Rings.  The helmet had teeth on it and the belt was made from bones with a small skull as the buckle.  Call me old fashioned but I just didn’t think it was appropriate for him.  So, I got the crazy notion to make his costume, and while I’m at it, what the heck, why not, I’ll make a costume for my daughter too!  So here they are!

His costume goes over black pants and he’ll carry his toy sword, he’ll probably want to take his shield too but I’m going to try to talk him out of it because he’ll need his other hand to carry his treat bucket in, right?  Her costume has a hat to go with it, but when I put it on her she cried and immediately took it off, we may try again on Halloween night, but I’m not holding my breath.  I’m also planning on making her a princess wand to go with her dress even though I know I’ll probably be the one carrying it around the neighborhood.  It’ll be cute for pictures though!  The knight costume is a McCall’s pattern and the princess is a pattern from Simplicity.  We’ll I’m off to clean up after my adventures in sewing so that I can start on a new project!  Have a great weekend!
